The guide

How a considered decision actually works

Hyndsiight is built around one idea: a decision is not a coin flip with extra steps. It is a process you can run, record and learn from. This is that process, exactly as the app walks you through it.

01

Put the decision into words

Type it, say it, or attach it. It saves as you go.

Read the words

You start with the choice in front of you, in your own words: the decision, the options you are weighing, and the pressure behind it. Fifteen themes shape the questions you get, so a music decision asks about sound and a money decision asks about numbers. If none of them fit, “Something else” still gets you a full read.

You can type, attach files (an offer letter, a quote, a recording), or simply talk it through out loud. Everything autosaves as a draft, so you can leave it and come back. A write-up can be submitted at 40% filled in; below 65% we warn you that a thinner write-up gets a thinner reading.

The questions shrink when the call is small. An easy, low-stakes choice gets fewer questions and a shorter answer, because over-thinking a simple decision is its own kind of mistake.

02

Get the read, not a verdict

Four factors, one Readiness number from 0 to 100. Never a yes or a no.

Read the words

The reading scores four things: evidence quality, assumption risk, emotional load and reversibility. In plain terms, how much of this rests on what you know versus what you believe, which untested assumptions the whole call is balanced on, how much urgency or fear is doing the deciding, and what it would cost to undo.

Those four fold into one Readiness number from 0 to 100, in one of four levels: Not ready, Thin, Reasonably ready, Well considered. It reads as a description, not a grade. A high score does not mean the choice is right; it means you have thought about it properly.

When something is missing, the read says so and asks for it, up to three context questions, instead of answering around the gap. And if you are not really deciding anything, it tells you that too. Hyndsiight never gives you a yes or a no. The call stays yours.

03

Take the one next step

One move, sized to what is missing, and a look-back date that cannot slide.

Read the words

Every reading ends with one concrete move, sized to what is actually missing: wait a day, test the weakest assumption, get one outside opinion, or go ahead. One step, not a ten-part plan.

When you commit, you mark the decision as decided and pick the date you want to look back. Follow-up dates lock once confirmed, so the future appointment cannot quietly slide. The app returns the decision to you on that date instead of letting it disappear.

Look back in 20/20

What you expected, against what happened. The gap is the lesson.

Read the words

After the fact, a short reflection asks what actually happened, what surprised you, what it cost or earned, and how much you would do it again. One line for the lesson. That is the whole form.

Reflections feed your Calibration score, a 0 to 100 track of how well your confidence going in matched what happened after. Most people discover they are brave about some kinds of decisions and careless about others. You cannot see that pattern without writing it down.

05

Let it compound

The record turns into a shape you can read. Filing more never raises it.

Read the words

Enough logged decisions and your Decision DNA starts showing real tendencies: the themes you handle well, the ones where you rush, the words that keep coming back. Your Hyndsiight IQ and skill web grow from the same history, and streaks reward showing up, one logged day at a time.

One rule holds across all of it: volume is not quality. Filing ten decisions in a day does not raise your Readiness, your IQ or your Calibration. Looping on the same choice gets named, not rewarded. The record is there to make your thinking better, not bigger.

Match the tool to the size of the call

Small call, small form. Big call, full write-up. Shared call, a room.

Read the words

Not every decision deserves a full write-up. Quick Decisions handle the day-to-day ones in a handful of questions, starting with the one that matters most: what was the choice you made? Gatherings handle the calls that are not yours alone, a room where the people affected each get a say, and the host sees where the room splits.

Save the full write-up for the ones that keep you up at night. That is where the themes, the attachments, the follow-up questions and the four-factor read earn their keep.

What Hyndsiight will not do

It will not tell you what to do, and it is not professional, financial, legal or medical advice. It will not pretend a guess is a fact. It will not let activity stand in for thinking. What it will do is remember everything you decided, why you decided it, and how it turned out, so every next call starts a little smarter than the last.

Not professional advice

Hyndsiight is a reflection and decision-review tool. It is not legal, medical, financial, or therapeutic advice. Readings are prompts for your own thinking, not recommendations or predictions.
